Next start date: August 28th 2026
Does this sound like you?
You have a life in your new country, but don't feel completely settled in it.
You have friends, but still miss having your people.
You find yourself thinking about whether you should stay or move again.
You're struggling with anxiety, burnout or just feeling emotionally worn out.
You're worried about your family and feel guilty about being so far away.
You're finding things harder than they used to be.
You want closer relationships, but don't always know how to get there.
You want to feel more like yourself again.
You’re struggling with other mental health difficulties which, added to living abroad, can feel overwhelming!
You want to feel supported and a sense of community.
Living abroad can be a lot.
Even when you love where you live, there can be a lot going on underneath it.
You're away from your family, you don't have your usual people around you. Making close friends as an adult is hard! You might be dealing with work stress, burnout, anxiety, relationship problems or worries about what's happening back home at the same time.
And then there are the bigger questions: Do I actually want to stay here? Where do I want to live? What am I doing with my career? Where is home now?
Sometimes you can be doing completely fine on the outside and still feel quite lost underneath it.
That’s why I put together this small 8-week therapy group for international women living abroad who want to work through some of that with other women who just get it.
What we'll actually do
-
Making friends as an adult is hard. Building relationships that feel genuinely close can be even harder when you're new somewhere. We'll look at loneliness, belonging, vulnerability and what gets in the way of deeper connection.
-
Being far away doesn't mean you stop worrying about the people at home. We can work with the guilt, responsibility and helplessness that can come with being a daughter, sister or mother from a distance.
-
Moving countries can change how you see yourself and what you want. We'll look at career decisions, ambition, burnout and the question of who you are when the life you built no longer fits.
-
When you're building a life abroad, relationships can carry even more weight. We'll work on asking for what you need, setting boundaries, dealing with conflict and allowing yourself to be supported too.
-
You may love your life abroad and still miss home. You may want to stay and still wonder if you're making the right decision. We'll make space for those contradictions rather than trying to resolve them too quickly.
-
Anxiety, burnout, low mood and other mental health difficulties don't disappear because you've moved country. We'll work on recognising when you're struggling, responding differently and building support around yourself rather than trying to manage everything alone.
-
Friendship, sex, dating, pleasure, spontaneity, play, confidence and having fun can all get pushed aside when you're busy making a life work. They matter too.
We'll use community, mindfulness and Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy methods to work on the parts that can become particularly difficult when you're living away from home, but also as a woman living in today’s day and age.
8 women. 8 weeks.
This is a small group for a reason.
The same women meet each week, giving you time to get to know one another and for trust to develop. You won't be starting over with a different group every week.
Weekly online therapy
Each Thursday evening at 6:00pm CET, we'll meet online for a structured therapy session, using group therapy and DBT-informed approaches.
We'll talk about what's actually happening in your life, understand the patterns you're getting stuck in and practise different ways of responding.
Between-session support
You'll have a private WhatsApp group throughout the eight weeks, with prompts and exercises to help you continue to feel connected between sessions.
And we'll have some fun
We're going to talk about difficult things, but this isn't eight weeks of sitting around being miserable!
There will be space for humour, play, getting to know each other and enjoying being with other women who understand.
